Aluminum and Acrylic Sandwich

I wanted to create a pendant design that didn’t need a bale so I came up with the idea of an aluminum sandwich. A hole for the chain was created by sandwiching two pieces of acrylic between the outer aluminum sheets. The sandwich stays together via two rivets at the top and the bottom. The tolerances are quite tight and I would not have been able to finalize the concept without my trusty laser cutter, vernier calipers and CAD design software. My advise to any up and coming designers – know your tools and don’t give up on any design problem until it is solved, even if it means many drafts.
